1. — Ти хочеш познайомитися з Бобом Бейкером?

— Well, I don't know anything about him. What does he look like?

— He is neither tall nor short, broad shouldered, he has dark eyes and dark hair. He wears spectacles..

— Що він за людина?

— He is very reserved, polite, energetic and professional.

— Скільки йому років?

— I don't know exactly. I guess he is not more than thirty years old.

— Він одружений?

— No, he isn't and he has never been married.

— Познайом мене з ним.

— All right. Tomorrow at seven sharp come to the dancing hall.

— Я обов'язково прийду.

2. — Я чув, у вас новий начальник. Як він вам подобається?

— I don't see much of him but can say that he has good manners and is qualified for the job.

— Опишіть його зовнішність.

— He is tall, slim with an oval face, light eyes and a straight nose. He wears neither a beard nor a moustache.He is handsome.

— У вас був випадок з ним поговорити?

— Of course. I must tell you he is very easy to deal with.

— Мені приємно це чути. Вам буде дуже легко з ним працювати.

— I hope so. You are acquainted with him, aren't you?

— Ні, я його ніколи не бачив.

— Why do you think it will be easy for me to deal with him?

— Ви ж самі сказали, що з ним легко мати справу.

— Yes, I did.

— Donald, you look so tired. You don't feel well, do you?

— It's not that. I am really tired. I need a rest.

— Take a holiday.

— I can't do it now. We've got a lot of work to do.

— Excuse my curiosity, what do you usually do at your office?

— You'd better ask me what I don't do at my office. As soon as I come to my office I have to answer telephone calls, sign documents, participate in the talks, discuss the terms of the agreements, send letters and telegrams and do many other things.

— How long does your working day last?

— It depends... I come to my office at a quarter to nine and at 5 p.m. our working day is over. But if we've got many things to do, we stay there until everything is done.

— I see. I suppose, you've got a break for lunch.

— Sure. At 1 p.m. we've got a break for lunch which lasts for an hour.

— Do you sometimes go on business trips?

— Our employees go to various cities and towns in this country and abroad.

— Have you been abroad?

— Yes, several times. I have already been to Canada, Australia and West Germany.

— Have you been to the USA?

— Not yet. I am planning to go there next year. And you, have you been to the USA?

— Yes, I returned from the USA last month. I spent a fortnight there and visited New York, Washington and Boston.

— It was a business trip?

— Sure.
